Ovulation disorders

One of the main causes of infertility is anovulation or irregular ovulation. Anovulation is a symptom of so-called endocrine dysfunction infertility, which is associated with disruptions in hormonal mechanisms. Endocrine dysfunction underlies 30-40% of all infertility causes on the women’s side. But do not despair—in most cases ovulation disorders can be cured by stimulating ovulation.

What causes anovulation?

The most frequent cause of anovulation is polycystic ovary syndrome when follicles with maturing eggs grow, but ovulation (rupture of the follicle) does not occur and the egg is not released from the follicle. This is caused by different hormonal disorders. Pregnancy occurs after stimulation of ovulation in most cases.

How can ovulation disorders be diagnosed? Folliculometry

Anovulation can be confirmed or ruled out using folliculometry (using ultrasonic observation of the follicle maturing process). Thanks to this procedure, the doctor observes how the follicle develops and whether ovulation occurs.

How can one get pregnant with ovulation disorders?

Anovulation can be corrected by stimulation after which pregnancy occurs naturally. ISIDA clinic has many such patients. If conception does not occur in a natural sex life cycle with ovulation stimulation, intrauterine insemination is needed. If IUI does not help, in vitro fertilization is used.

IVF

(in vitro fertlization) — is an infertility treatment technique used in the case when the egg and the sperm cannot meet in a natural way. Fertilization is done at the lab and then the embryo is transferred into the woman’s body. If necessary donor materials can be recommended.

IVF+TESE

Assisted reproductive method when sperm got after testicular biopsy. Reproductologists use this method in case of male reproductive dysfunction, when sperm cannot be obtained in a regular way.

IVF+ICSI

(Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) — an assisted reproductive method of treating severe cases of male infertility. For this purpose the sperm are selected under the microscope and then one by one are injected into each egg.

Ultrasound check

A way of producing an image of an organ inside somebody’s body using sound waves

IUI

Intrauterine insemination is used in case of slight disorders of the reproductive function of one of the partners. Sperm of the husband or donor sperm is put into the uterus and fertilization happens in a natural way.

Frozen embryo transfer

Assisted reproductive method when frozen from previous cycles material is used.

Egg Donation

Assisted reproductive technique when donor eggs of a healthy woman are used for fertilization.
